Edges torn by waves.

Rocks cradle ocean/ Bands of sunset color stretch / Across fading sky.

First tint of sunset –

Clouds above and clouds below

Creased snow brushed ridges.

Oak leaves still clinging

River curves through whitened woods

Blue path of water.

Snowy mountain lake

Mirror of pale distant sky

Shines a deeper blue.

Silent row of trees

Marches across horizon

Beneath swirling sky.

Waterfall tumbles

Waves crash into each other –

A vertical sea.

Orange seeps away-

Clouds tangled in bare branches

Sunset framed by trees.

Through winter woodland

Raging rushing river flows –

Snowdrifts float on stones.

Snow falls in forest –

White dots punctuate silence

Of slope’s slanted trees.
