This is my second entry in the UWOL contest on http://www.dvinfo.net/. The theme was recreation and I adapted it to show how we don't always take care of the woods when we recreate. I wanted to express how it is important, in enjoying nature, to also treat it with respect.
Working on this video I found some very significant differences in quality and size due to encoding to different formats. The viewer on this page displays an excellent quality 428x240 Windows Media version of the video. It is 12 MB in size. A link to the WMV file is here: http://www.rockfowl.com/videos/WreckCreationFinal240.wmv.
In addition to the streaming WMV video, three other formats are available for download and viewing:
A better quality QuickTime version: http://www.rockfowl.com/videos/reh_WreckCreation.mov. This video is too large to be submitted to UWOL, but is what I would regard as the minimum acceptable quality for this video. There are some compression artifacts, but overall the quality of this 70 MB file is almost as good as the 12 MB WMV file.
Here is a link to the UWOL compatible MPEG-1 file that is less than 50MB in size: http://www.rockfowl.com/videos/reh_WreckCreation.mpg
On a cheerier note, if you have fast broadband here is the 200 MB HD WMV version (the video was shot in 1080i with a Sony HDR-HC7): http://www.rockfowl.com/videos/WreckCreationFinal1080.wmv. In my opinion this is how all videos should be viewed.
